Personal Weight Loss Program

The key to good health is eating right and staying fit. Diet and exercise are the cornerstones of treatment in multiple disease states. Patients who have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, peptic ulcer disease, heartburn, stroke, and osteoporosis can benefit a great deal simply from eating the “right” foods and following a daily exercise plan.

Obesity is a disease of epidemic proportions. Approximately two-thirds (67%) of the population is considered overweight or obese. Read more on obesity in the health article published in the Queens Chronicles health edition in 2010.

Our weight loss program is tailored for each patient. After a thorough initial evaluation, including calculation of the BMI (Body Mass Index) and bloodwork, a goal is set for every patient. The goal is not the lowest weight one ever was. Rather, the BMI is a fairly good way of determining an acceptable weight. To calculate your BMI, click here.

Once the workup is complete, treatment options include diet plans, nutritional supplements, and possibly the use of medications including appetite suppressants. Patients are followed monthly to evaluate for the efficacy of the medication as well as monitor for potential side effects.
